My Sponsor

I have decided to continue my inventory and send what I’ve written to my Sponsor. She told me to ensure that these things remain in the past; some of it I have already told her and have gone into more detail.

I also posted it to Terri and Georgie. If they don’t want to receive more Post like this from me, all they have to do is tell me and I will oblige. I have been rushing into this too much and need to slow down.

Other than that I’m fine. I won’t be at the meeting Tonight, but I’ll probably be at an Online meeting run by therecoverygroup.org. Also I’ll do a bit of reading as well.

Hope everyone is well?

Regards,

Desmond.

Hi Des, I hope you read what I sent about getting a male sponsor earlier. Listen Des, be very very careful about who you send inventories to. Essentially, these inventories should only be in your hands and only in your sponsor’s hands if you have that trust in them. We have our sponsor read our inventory and advise about it if needed, but we don’t leave it with them. This is all too private to be posting to people. Why do you not want to keep this to yourself and your sponsor? You are healing yourself of defaults you have had in the past, it is a healing process to help your recovery. Yes, I agree, you have been rushing this way too much. Step 4 is a very very long process, to be thought over, prayed over, talked over with your sponsor, and forgiven by yourself. I do step four every night – it is a never ending process, and it makes us better people.

    Thanks Terri,

I had a Male Sponsor at first, but he was too busy to Answer my calls. Very few Men are active OA members in NI. There is one Man who lives near me who recently returned to OA having gained over and above the Weight he initially lost.

There is another man from near Newry who was interested in my Meeting. I’m not sure if he is a Sponsor.

There is a lot in Step 4 that is very personal and searches down to the depths of our life experience.

Pace yourself, Des. Don’t take on too much at once.
Step 4 looks at so much. Take your time with it and think about the issues.

Did the man who gained weight over and above the weight he initially lost have a sponsor he could turn to when he knew he was relapsing ?

It is a matter of using your sponsor and staying with the best one for you so that you stay on track. A sponsor is an important tool in your recovery.
