First OA Meeting in Moneymore

My friend from Cookstown arrived at Moneymore; about 25 Minutes late; and we were able to do a meeting just with ourselves. The woman from Portglenone who was interested said She couldn’t make it.

I read two articles at the meeting. The first was from this Month’s copy of ‘Lifeline’ which was written by a Recovering Anorexic from Perth, Western Australia, and the second was from ‘Lifeline Sampler’ called ‘Nothing is going my way – Thank God’. Nothing went my way today, but Jesus said himself, “When two or three are gathered in my name, I am with them always!”

I hope we can have a meeting next Saturday. The woman who runs the Building also arrived today and said I still had to pay for the room even if no one turns up; the price was haggled, btw. But I’m not too disheartened, just glad to get up and running.

Here’s to more meetings, and more members.

I have my first cup of tea in my hand … breakfast time over here.

I am raising it to ‘More meetings and more members!’

Every single thing starts off somewhere. Keep publicising it through local newspapers and radio.

Ask the person who attended to let others know.

See if you can put a sign up in cafe windows who support community events.

I mentioned it to the Armagh meeting and the other Man who attended; who runs the Meeting at Newry; said it has to go through Intergroup. Problem for me is that Intergroup convenes when I have to take Gran to Mass. I told them I’ll see what I can do.

Otherwise I enjoyed my Day. I took Gran to Homebase and Tesco in Cookstown, then after the Armagh meeting drove to The Loup (A Village in County Derry about 8 Miles from where I live) for a Quiz in aid of the Haiti Appeal; which my team won by 4 or 5 Points. I gave the Prize; a Bottle of White Wine; to Gran.

    Hey Des,
Congrats on the quiz – you always win – its a great hobby for you. Why don’t you call Intergroup and explain your situation to them. AA, OA etc. always has to pay for the rental of the room, even if noone shows up. Discuss this meeting of yours with the Intergroup people and see if they can help you in any way – they are the experts.
