Sounds like your brother needs to see a 'clued-up' doctor, Des.

Someone that is good for his individual needs.

Carl is going through the process of making appointments with another doctor after his long-standing GP prescribed him medication that the (teaching) hospital took him off in August.
Carl told her they had taken him off it and he wasn't to take it.
Her comment was : 'Yes, you should' so now we are going through a process of having copies of all his blood tests sent to his endocrinologist each time he has a blood test.

When Carl revisits his endocrinologist in three weeks, he can talk about the medication issue with her. Seems like he will be staying a lot safer that way !

Apart from anything else, this is one example of how elderly people do need to be connected to others in some way so that there is some check on their medication. They are not simply doing everything on their own.
