Just for Today

Today was pretty hectic. I had to take my Brother to Dungannon to see friends. Afterwards I went to Portadown Train Station and took the Train to Belfast; I got my new Half-Fare SmartPass by post on Friday; I had to wait about 50 Minutes as I missed the 14:45 one by a couple of Minutes. :eek

When I arrived back in Portadown I used the Sat Nav to get to the OA Meeting in Armagh. Trying to get through Portadown is like Spaghetti Junction in Birmingham. The main weakness of the Sat Nav is that it doesn’t tell you which Lane to take. All I got was the usual, “Bear Left, then take the Second Exit!” After about 10 Minutes running round Portadown I eventually found the right Lane.

Once I arrived at the meeting I knew the reading had me in mind. It was a story about a Woman who explained the Spirituality behind the Program. After the meeting I felt much better, then after returning home I read the extracts from the ‘Voices of Recovery’ and ‘24 Hours a Day’ (Hazelden AA Book) daily readers. They also mentioned the ‘Just for Today’ message. I felt so good inside after reading them.

I did manage to get a bit of Prayer this morning. It proved enough to get me through today. But I do need to stop overloading myself.

Just for Today, I’m happy.

What is happening with your sponsor, Des?

    Hey Des,
My first stay in rehab in 2000 was in Hazelden in West Palm Beach. I love their 24 hours a day readings. Good for you for making it to the meeting, they always give us something good to take home.
When I am going somewhere I have not been before I map quest it – you should do this so that you know what direction and turns you are going to make. Don’t totally rely on sat nav.
So, what have you done with your sponsor? What step are you working on now Des?

    Terri,

I posted my list of faults for Step 5 to her. I must text her Tonight; especially as I’m not gonna do the Advanced Spanish Course.

Des, Always call and speak to your sponsor, not text. Conversing is most important with sponsors. You should be meeting with your sponsor regularly for help in anything you need, and working the steps.
