Not doing well this week

Robin Williams once said, “Cocaine is God’s way of saying you’re doing too much!” Well, I’ve relapsed over the past few days. It’s God’s way of telling me I’m doing too much and should stop being Chef, Cook and Bottlewasher in my Home.

    Des,

Have you contacted your sponsor and told her how you are feeling?

  2. Des says:

    Georgie,

I need to get her text number again now that I have an iPhone. But I created another gratitude list; which I’ve sent out to you, Terri and a few others. The need to remind myself of how much I have to be grateful for will help me.

I’m also reapplying for the Half-Fare SmartPass. Beacuse I’m claiming DLA I’m entitled to one. I had one prior to passing the driving test, but then lost it and couldn’t find it again.

  3. Georgie says:

I would talk to your sponsor

  4. Terri says:

Des, why are you not doing well this week? You obviously are not calling your sponsor every day like I told you to, and you have stopped working your program. First thing – calm down, everything will be ok. I’m glad you made a gratitude list. Why are you the cook in your house – does’nt gran do all the cooking?? What has changed in the household that you are doing the cooking? Remember what I told you : CALL YOUR SPONSOR BEFORE YOU RELAPSE. Thats what they are there for. Your sponsor is a HUGE part of your life, but you have not made your sponsor part of your life Des, so this will continue to happen. If I relapse and drink, I will be found dead within 24 hours, I just know it. You don’t have such a penalty to pay if you relapse, but it is just as important that you do NOT relapse. So lets get you back in the OA “Groove”. If you are not happy with your present sponsor then get another one. You must be in touch with them every single solitary day Des. They should know everything that is going on in your life. That way, they know the signs to watch out for before you would relapse. If your meeting is cancelled then go to another meeting. If there is not another OA meeting near you go to an AA or NA meeting – its all about the same steps and work and you will learn something at those meetings. You relapsed over Christmas, and have done so again, so you can see that something has to be changed. Let me know what you think has to be changed. Is it withing the household – if so we can work on changing it. So, as we say in AA and OA – “just for today”. Don’t think about tomorrow, just do it for today. Forget and forgive yourself for relapsing and start again right now. But, whatever sent you into relapse this time, has to be changed so tell me what triggered you?
I say all this is love and care Des, you have come too far to turn back.

    Last line above should read:

I say all this with love and car Des, …….

  6. Georgie says:

    Des,

Sort out your own issues with your sponsor. Contact her every day.
If something is preventing your sponsor from being available for you, find another one. Go to OA or AA; I am sure any of the 12-step programmes will help you find another sponsor.

Get your act together, Des !

  7. Terri says:

    Hey Des,
How are you today???? I’m here in the office for a little while today and wish I could talk with you. I’m behind you 100% dear friend. We all fall off the wagon, but I’m here to pull you back on and keep you there. If you have anything you need to discuss you can always email me. Its important to get a good start to the year and stay with our program. You have a wonderful higher power to watch over you, so use it, use the program and use us.
    With love,
    T

    Thanks Terri,

I got the results of my Health Check This Afternoon. They said my Cholesterol Levels are up again. I had been eating fry ups for Breakfast, but that will soon change. Also need to get back on the Flora ProActiv Drinks. I haven’t been to Tesco in ages.

  9. Terri says:

Des, I don’t think the lady is interested in OA if she is talking about diets so leave her be.
Now, fry ups for breakfast, oh Des, you know this is the worst absolutely worst thing you could do. I love fry ups, but have not had one for about 9 years. I want you to eat oatmeal for breakfast or porrage, I do – every morning. I don’t really like it and it was hard to get used to, but I do it an my cholesterol is normal because of it. Don’t tell me you don’t like it, we have to do stuff we don’t like in order to get better.
You can do this Des, now is the time to start again. Get to more meetings and no sitting around doing nothing. Come on guy, where is that great attitude you have. I’m behind you 100% so get started.
    Love ya,
    T

At the moment I’m having Bran Flakes; which I DO like. I had bowel problems last Month, but bought Bran Flakes to sort that out.

The Quizzes in the Loup are every second Sunday. The signs say they start at 8:30, but in reality start at 9. That would give me enough time to get there from the Armagh meeting; which usually finishes at 8. It would probably take 45-50 Minutes getting there. Usually, on my way home from the Armagh meeting, I stop at the Moy for a few things. But maybe I can give that a miss from now on.

  11. Georgie says:

Interesting you should mention porridge as we call it here or oats, Terri.
They give patients in hospital here porridge as part of a very healthy diet.
You can always put some sliced fresh apple or pear into it to give it some sweetness.
It’s a good idea as oats have fibre and roughage.
    Must try it out myself.

    Georgie,

I had Bran Flakes for Breakfast this Morning.

I’m not like those Americans who have Pizza for Breakfast. lol Jamie Oliver went to the Fattest Town in America; somewhere in West Virginia; and was hounded out. I guess some people are set in their ways.
